The Palma Congress Center as a success factor for the economy
Last year, the Palma Congress Center hosted a total of 226 events with 61,476 participants. The convention center and the Meliá Hotel, which is part of the complex, thus recorded revenues of 16.2 million euros in 2022, according to officials. There were 65,438 room nights at the hotel, with a total of 107,966 overnight guests. In addition, there were another 35,000 overnight stays in other hotels in the city, directly related to the events held at the Congress Center. The Congress Center is thus proving to be an important factor in the success of Palma’s economy.
It had spent 22.5 million euros in 2022 around the congresses and meetings in the city. These figures were published by the new director Natalia Seoane at the end of February. According to Ms. Seoane, this is the best result in the five-year existence of the convention center. The congress location Palma de Mallorca has achieved the best results of all destinations in Spain, a Meliá spokeswoman added.
