Autumn in Mallorca is a season that likely showcases the island at its most beautiful. After the warm summer months, it offers an opportunity to enjoy nature and indulge in other leisure activities, particularly those outdoors. The grape harvest, traditional local cuisine, extensive hikes in enchanting landscapes, as well as culture, diverse sights, and golf courses all contribute to Mallorca's appeal in autumn. Whether you are a property owner in Mallorca planning your next stay or simply visiting on holiday, in autumn on Mallorca you can get a completely new perspective on this beautiful island.

The climate and nature in autumn

Autumn cools the island down: while summer temperatures often exceed 30°C, they drop to pleasant values between 20°C and 25°C in autumn. The sea also remains warm well into November, allowing for beach days and boat trips to extend into late autumn. However, occasional rainfall can be expected in autumn, though it is usually short and intense. October is the wettest month, but it is urgently needed after the hot summer. The rate of precipitation then drops again in November and December.

The natural beauty of Mallorca reveals itself in particularly picturesque fashion in autumn. The landscape, which recovers from the summer heat thanks to the rain, makes the island glow in rich green. In the Tramuntana mountains, hiking trails offer spectacular views over the coast and the autumn-coloured vegetation. In the rural areas, olives and grapes ripen, while the mild temperatures also invigorate the wildlife – birds on their migratory routes often stop off on the island. The beaches and coves are quieter, the water is still pleasantly warm, and the coastal scenery invites leisurely strolls. Autumn is therefore the ideal time to discover Mallorca's nature and enjoy its tranquility.

Autumn is also the time for the grape and olive harvests. Mallorca's vineyards offer tours and tastings at this time. The grapes ripen and become sweet, and the grape harvest is an important moment in the Mallorcan annual cycle. The olive trees are also ready for harvest, and many farms invite visitors for harvest tours, where they can learn about traditional olive pressing and sample fresh olive oil.

Cala Tuent – an alternative to Sa Calobra

Autumn is the perfect time to explore the Tramuntana Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temperatures are pleasant and the autumn landscape offers impressive panoramas. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced hiker, there are routes to suit every level. In the Serra de Tramuntana, the picturesque village of Valldemossa and the route along the Cúber and Gorg Blau reservoirs, which offer fascinating panoramic views over the mountains and the valley, are particularly recommended. Deià is another starting point for hikes and also offers insights into Mallorcan culture. A particularly recommended route leads from Banyalbufar to the fishing village of Port d'es Canonge. The route offers fascinating views of bays along the coast. Another classic is the route from Port de Sóller to Deià, which leads through olive groves and holm oak forests. The easy hike from Port de Pollença to Cala Bóquer is suitable for families or beginners - an easy, two-hour tour with swimming opportunities in the quiet bay.

Autumn also caters to cyclists, attracting many international cycling enthusiasts. From challenging mountain tours to relaxed coastal tours, Mallorca offers a great variety. The mild weather ensures that even longer routes are possible without overheating, and the landscapes provide an impressive backdrop. Cyclists can enjoy the Ma-10, which winds through the Tramuntana mountains and offers spectacular coastal views. For a relaxed route, the path along the Bay of Alcúdia is recommended, combining coastal landscapes and gentle hills.

Lately, conditions in autumn are also ideal for water sports. The beaches are less crowded, the water is still warm, and there's often a light breeze. Water sports enthusiasts will find less-visited spots with clear water and quiet beaches in coves like Cala Figuera or Cala Varques. The Bay of Pollença is also an ideal starting point for sailors and windsurfers, as it is well-protected and offers stable wind conditions.

With mild temperatures and breathtaking landscapes, it is the ideal time to explore the Tramuntana mountains on a hike, delve into wine and olive oil production, or cycle along the coast.
